Brede Kristensen is publishing a study on 'integrity of public governance', titled: "Matter of Limits", in Dutch "Een Kwestie van Grenzen" with SWP, Amsterdam
The book defines the concept of integrity, relating it to transparency, accountability, reliability, quality and inclusiveness. It focuses on 7 major types of desintegrity: rent seeking behaviour, imperialistic networks, twisted definitions of reality, professional desintegrity, as well as three major organisational types of deintegrity related to bureaucratic rigidity, protectionism and internal competition.
It analyses the impact of desintegrity on economic development, as well as society and politics, as well as the causes of integrity. An extensive discussion on integrity and modernity is offered, arguing that modernity without an attitude of 'inclusiveness' is bound to produce all types of desintegrity and corruption.
Finally much attention is given to the practical implications of improving transparency, accountability, reliability, quality and inclusiveness. The book concludes with a chapter on methodology.
